Hot water installation is more involved than simply joining a few pipes. In Queensland the rules for fitting any make or model of hot water systems are considerably stricter than in many other jurisdictions. Replacements must comply with current Australian standards, which may differ from the requirements in place when your old unit was installed. Besides the additional valves (often not supplied with new systems), Brisbane Hot Water Heaters also pays the QBCC fee for lodging Form 4 — a compulsory council charge whenever a home has its hot water system replaced.
Every hot water installation carried out by Brisbane Hot Water Heaters includes:
– Tempering valve
– Pressure reduction valve
– Cold water expansion valve
– NRI valve
– Discharge drains to an approved outlet
– Full insulation on hot water and drain pipes
– QBCC Form 4 fees submitted and paid
Gone are the days of a local plumber casually swapping a hot water unit on the way home. Nowadays every replacement must be done by a licensed plumber who also holds an electrical licence to safely disconnect and reconnect power. If the system is relocated, an electrical isolator must be fitted adjacent to it, and since 2019 this isolator has also been required for all heat pump hot water installations.
Sadly, some unlicensed operators still cut corners — avoiding compliance, skipping paperwork and failing to pay required fees. At Brisbane Hot Water Heaters we complete every installation to regulation, so you can be confident the work is done correctly by a trusted Brisbane plumber experienced with hot water systems, installation, repairs and gas and electric units.
